FAQs
Colombian Coffee provides a mild acidity and a robust caramel sweetness, sometimes with a nutty undertone, similar to high quality Peruvian beans. They have the most distinct coffee flavour in North America, that of sweet and medium-bodied.
It is possible to produce strong Colombian coffee in comparison to non-Colombian coffee types. The strength of the coffee will depend on the processing, roasting & brewing methods. Thus, Colombian coffee is only stronger if it is prepared to be stronger. Increased proportions of low quality beans make a bitter brew, yet Colombian coffee keeps its flavour profile even when pushed via more rigorous and vigorous brewing processes.
These coffee beans provide a taste that is smooth, balanced, and light in body. There are also overtones of fruit, almonds, & dark chocolate in the taste profile.
Colombian coffee beans are among one the finest anywhere. Colombia has a long history of culturing Arabica beans, & the country’s specific topography makes it ideal for making a tastey, high-quality bean. The coffee is renowned worldwide for its flavour & the destinctive mild but rich aroma which rises from each brew. That could explain why they have been growing coffee for ~200 years, and it’s been their highest export for most of that time.
Most people consider Costa Rican coffee as the top one in Central America. Elevation classes are assigned to Costa Rican beans, with the best rated beans grown at the greatest elevation. These beans are called strictly hard beans”.
In a little pot, boil water and panela. Panela is a product that is produced with sugarcane, it is sweet & brown, is marketed in blocks or grated and the flavour is similar to that of brown sugar. Decrease heat to low & cook for 30 min, stir occationally to melt panela.
In a tiny French press, place the ground coffee beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it reaches the brim of the French press.
Brew for 4 min, stirring once during the time. Plunge the French press & pour the coffee straight away.
Colombian coffee is most suited for a dark roast. This due to the fuller, floral flavour, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are just as flavourful. While retaining the bean’s flavour, cocoa and caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The tastes and smells of medium to dark roasts are stronger.
Colombian coffee’s cultivating conditions and processes make it considered to be the best by a lot of people, particually due to its distinct taste. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce flavourful coffee with great quality at high elevations. They are then processed natually on little farms by hand. The higher elevation produces a better flavoured bean. Because of its favourable meteorological conditions, Colombian coffee is a rich, somewhat fruity, and chocolaty taste.
The caffeine content of Colombian coffee is comparable to that of other coffee beans. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is slightly higher than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is small & may not be noticable. Depending on the sub-variety & amount of roasting, high-quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 mg per single espresso serving & up to 200 mg in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.
Colombian coffee beans are among the most well-known & popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste which is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more known for their robust & balanced flavours than for their particular flavour profile. Guatemala coffee is also quite tasty coffee.
- The hulling process
Colombian coffee beans are dried benith the sun over a few days or until the water content gets to around ten%. This helps in the bean’s drying & preps it for hulling. Sumatran coffee spends a lot less time in the sunshine. Sumatran coffee is hulled with substantially higher moisture content, at times as high as 20%.
To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.
- Acidity and flavour
Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.
Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.
