FAQs

Colombian Coffee exhibits a mild acidity & a robust caramel sweetness, often with a nutty undertone, similar to high quality Peruvian coffees. They have the most identifiable coffee flavour in North America, that of sweet & medium-bodied.

It is possible to produce strong Colombian coffee in comparison to non-Colombian coffee types. The strength of the coffee will depend on the processing, roasting and brewing methods. Thus, Colombian coffee is only strong if it is made to be stronger.  Higher amounts of lower-quality beans make a bitter coffee, but Colombian coffee keeps its flavour integrity even when pushed via more rigorous & vigorous brewing methods.

Colombian coffee beans produce a taste that is smooth, balanced, & light in body. There are also overtones of fruit, almonds, & dark chocolate in the flavour profile.

Colombian coffee is among one the finest in the world. Colombia has a long history of culturing Arabica coffee beans, & the country’s specific topography makes it perfect for making a tastey, top quality coffee bean. The coffee is renowned accross the globe for its taste and the distinct mild but rich aroma which rises from each cup. This could explain why they have been producing coffee for about 200 years, & it’s been their highest export for most of that period.

Most people consider Costa Rican coffee as the best in Central America. Elevation classes are given to Costa Rican beans, with the best rated beans farmed at the greatest elevation. These beans are known as “strictly high grown”.

In a small pot, boil water and panela. Panela is a product that is made with sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is sold in blocks or grated and the taste is similar to that of brown sugar. Decrease heat to low and cook for 30 min, stir occationally to melt panela.

In a little French press, put the ground beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it reaches the top of the French press.

Brew for four minutes, stirring only once. Push down the French press & pour the coffee straight away.

Colombian coffee is best as a dark roast.  This as a result of the fuller, floral taste, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are equally tasty. While retaining the bean’s flavour, cocoa & caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The flavours & smells of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s producing conditions and processes make it thought to be the best by a lot of people, particually due to its distinct taste. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce flavourful coffee with excellent quality at high elevations. They are then processed natually on small farms by hand. The higher elevation makes for a better flavoured bean. Due to its favourable climatic conditions, Colombia coffee beans are a rich, somewhat fruity, and chocolaty taste.

The caffeine content of Colombian coffee is comparable to that of other coffee beans. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is a little bit greater than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is small & may not be noticable. Depending on the sub-variety & amount of roasting, high quality Colombian Arabica coffee contains 30-50 mg per each espresso serving & up to 200 mg in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian beans are among the most well-known and popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste which is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more praised for their robust & balanced tastes than for their particular taste profile. Guatemala coffee is also very good coffee.

    • The hulling process

Colombian coffee beans are dried under the sun over a few days or until the moisture amount reaches about 10%. This helps in the bean’s drying & preps it for hulling. Sumatran coffee spends a lot less time in the sun. Sumatran coffee is hulled with substantially greater water content, sometimes as high as twenty percent.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.

The Colombian coffee region, is called the Coffee Triangle. It is a part of the Colombian Paisa area in the regional area of Colombia. It is renound for culturing the majority of Colombian coffee. There are four departments (which are the same as States & Territories in Australia) in the area which are: Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda & Tolima.
