FAQs

Colombian Coffee has a mild acidity and a robust caramel sweetness, occationally with a nutty undertone, similar to high quality Peruvian coffees. They have the most distinct coffee taste in North America, that of sweet and medium bodied.

It is possible to make strong Colombian coffee in comparison to other coffee. The strength of the coffee is determined by the processing, roasting and brewing process. Thus, Colombian coffee is just strong if it is made to be stronger.  Higher amounts of low quality beans result in a bitter coffee, yet Colombian coffee maintains its flavour integrity even when pushed via more rigorous & vigorous brewing processes.

Colombian beans make a taste that is smooth, balanced, and light in body. There are also overtones of fruit, almonds, & dark chocolate in the flavour profile.

Colombian coffee beans are among one the best anywhere. Colombia has a long history of producing Arabica coffee beans, and the country’s particular topography makes it ideal for making a tastey, top quality brew. The coffee is renowned accross the globe for its flavour and the distinct mild but rich aroma that rises from each cup. This may explain why they have been producing coffee for ~200 years, & it’s been their highest export for the majority of that period.

Many people regard Costa Rican coffee as the top one in Central America. Elevation ratings are assigned to Costa Rican beans, with the highest rated beans grown at the greatest altitude. These beans are named strictly hard beans”.

In a small pot, bring water and panela to a boil. Panela is a product that is made with sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is marketed in blocks or grated and the flavour is like that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low and cook for 30 minutes, stir occationally to melt panela.

In a tiny French press, put the ground coffee. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it reaches the brim of the French press.

Brew for 4 min, stirring once during the time. Push down the French press & pour the coffee right away.

Colombian coffee beans are best as a dark roast.  This due to the fuller, floral flavour, however light roasts made from Colombian beans are just as delicious. While retaining the bean’s taste, cocoa and caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The flavours and smells of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s producing conditions & processes make it considered to be the best by a lot of people, particually due to its distinct flavour. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce tasty coffee with great quality at higher elevations. They are then naturally processed on little farms by hand. The higher elevation produces a nicer flavoured bean. Because of its favourable climatic characteristics, Colombian coffee beans are a rich, somewhat fruity, & chocolaty flavour.

The caffeine content of Colombian coffee is similar to that of other coffee types. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is a little bit greater than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is minor and may not be noticable. Depending on the sub-variety and amount of roasting, high quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 milligrams per each espresso serving & up to 200 mg in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian coffee beans are among the most well-known & popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied flavour that is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more known for their robust & balanced tastes than for their particular flavour profile. Guatemala coffee is also very tasty coffee.

    • The hulling process

Colombian coffee beans are dried benith the sun for a few days or until the moisture content gets to around 10%. This helps in the bean’s drying & prepares it for hulling. Sumatran coffee spends far less time in the sunshine. Sumatran coffee is hulled with a lot higher moisture content, sometimes as much as 20%.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.

The Colombian coffee region, is called the Coffee Triangle. It is a part of the Colombian Paisa area in the rural area of Colombia. It is famous for producing the majority of Colombian coffee.
