FAQs
Colombian Coffee provides a mild acidity and a robust caramel sweetness, occationally with a nut undertone, similar to higher-quality Peruvian coffee beans. Colombian coffee beans have the most well known coffee taste in North America, that of sweet and medium bodied.
It is possible to make stronger Colombian coffee in comparison to other coffee types. The strength of the coffee is determined by the processing, roasting and brewing process. Thus, Colombian coffee is only stronger if it is made to be strong. Higher percentage of low quality beans produce a bitter coffee, but Colombian coffee maintains its taste integrity even when pushed via more rigorous & vigorous brewing processes.
Colombian coffee beans produce a taste that is smooth, balanced, & light in body. There are also overtones of fruit, almonds, and dark chocolate in the flavour profile.
Colombian coffee is among one the finest in the world. Colombia has a long history of culturing Arabica coffee beans, & the country’s particular topography makes it ideal for making a delicious, high quality drink. The coffee is known accross the world for its taste & the destinctive mild but rich aroma which rises from each cup. That may explain why they have been producing coffee for about 200 years, & it’s been their biggest export for most of that time.
Many people consider Costa Rican coffee as the top one in Central America. Altitude ratings are given to Costa Rican beans, with the highest rated beans cultivated at the greatest altitude. These beans are referred to as strictly hard beans”.
In a little saucepan, bring water & panela to a boil. Panela is a product that is produced from sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is sold in blocks or grated & the taste is like that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low and cook for 30 minutes, stir occationally to melt panela.
In a small French press, place the ground beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it reaches the top of the French press.
Brew for four minutes, stirring only once. Plunge the French press & pour the coffee straight away.
Colombian coffee beans are best as a dark roast. This due to the fuller, floral flavour, however light roasts made from Colombian beans are equally delicious. While keeping the bean’s flavour, cocoa & caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The flavours & aromas of medium to dark roasts are stronger.
Colombian coffee’s growing conditions and processes make it thought to be the best by many people, particually because of its distinct flavour. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce flavourful coffee with outstanding quality at high elevations. They are then prepared natually on little farms by hand. The higher altitude makes for a nicer tasting coffee bean. Due to its favourable meteorological conditions, Colombia coffee beans are a rich, somewhat fruity, and chocolaty taste.
The caffeine concentration of Colombian coffee is comparable to that of other coffees. The caffeine content of a dark roast coffee is a little bit more than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is small & may go unnoticed. Depending on the sub-variety & amount of roasting, top quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 mg per each espresso serving and up to 200 milligrams in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.
Colombian beans are among the most well-known and popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied flavour that is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more praised for their robust & balanced flavours than for their particular flavour profile. Guatemala coffee is also quite tasty coffee.
- The hulling process
Colombian coffee beans are dried under the sun over a few days or until the water amount gets to around 10%. This helps in the bean’s drying & prepares it for hulling. Sumatran coffee spends a lot less time in the sun. Sumatran coffee is hulled with substantially greater moisture content, at times as much as 20%.
To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.
- Acidity and flavour
Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.
Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.
