FAQs

Colombian Coffee has a mild acidity and a robust caramel sweetness, occationally with a nut undertone, similar to higher-quality Peruvian coffees. They have the most distinct coffee taste in North America, being sweet & medium bodied.

It is possible to make stronger Colombian coffee in comparison to non-Colombian coffee types. The strength of the coffee will depend on the processing, roasting & brewing process. Thus, Colombian coffee is just strong if it is prepared to be strong.  Higher amounts of low quality beans produce a bitter coffee, yet Colombian coffee keeps its taste integrity even when pushed via more rigorous and vigorous brewing processes.

These coffee beans make a cup that is smooth, balanced, and light in body. There can be also overtones of fruit, almonds, & dark chocolate in the flavour profile.

Colombian coffee beans are among one the finest on the globe. Colombia has a long history of cultivating Arabica beans, & their particular topography makes it ideal for making a delicious, top quality beverage. The coffee is known accross the globe for its taste and the distinct mild but rich aroma that rises from each brew. That may explain why they have been exporting coffee for about 200 years, and it’s been their highest export for the majority of that period.

Many people consider Costa Rican coffee as the best in Central America. Elevation classes are assigned to Costa Rican beans, with the highest-rated beans farmed at the greatest elevation. These beans are called “strictly high grown”.

In a small pot, bring water and panela to a boil. Panela is a product that is made with sugarcane, it is sweet and brown, is marketed in blocks or grated and the flavour is similar to that of brown sugar. Reduce heat to low and cook for 30 minutes, stir occationally to melt panela.

In a tiny French press, put the ground beans. Pour Aguapanela (Aguapanela or Agua de Panela translates to “panela water”) over coffee until it reaches the top of the French press.

Brew for 4 minutes, stirring only once. Push down the French press & pour the coffee straight away.

Colombian coffee is most suited for a dark roast.  This because of the fuller, floral flavour, but light roasts made from Colombian beans are just as delicious. While keeping the bean’s taste, cocoa and caramel flavours are brought to the forefront. The tastes & aromas of medium to dark roasts are stronger.

Colombian coffee’s cultivating conditions & processes make it thought to be the best by many people, particually because of its distinct taste. Farmers of the Arabica beans produce tasty coffee with excellent quality at higher elevations. They are then naturally prepared on little farms by hand. The high elevation produces a better tasting bean. Because of its favourable climatic characteristics, Colombia coffee is a rich, somewhat fruity, and chocolaty flavour.

The caffeine content of Colombian coffee is comparable to that of other coffees. The caffeine concentration of a dark roast coffee is a little bit more than that of a light roast coffee. The difference is minor and may not be noticable. Depending on the sub-variety & degree of roasting, high-quality Colombian Arabica coffee has 30-50 milligrams per single espresso serving & up to 200 milligrams in an 235ml (~8-ounce) cup.

Colombian beans are among the most well-known and popular in the world of coffee. They have a full-bodied taste which is well-balanced. Guatemalan beans are more known for their robust and balanced tastes than for their particular taste profile. Guatemala coffee is also quite tasty coffee.

    • The hulling process

Colombian coffee beans are dried benith the sun over a few days or until the moisture content reaches around ten percent. This aids in the bean’s drying & preps it for hulling. Sumatran coffee stays far less time in the sun. Sumatran coffee is hulled with significantly greater moisture content, at times as high as twenty percent.

To remove the hulls, special wet hulling equipment is needed. The wet hulling equipment also allows the coffee beans to ferment, giving them a distinct flavor that you will not find anywhere.

    • Acidity and flavour

Colombian coffee has a well-balanced flavour and moderate acidity. This coffee has a bit of a bite to it, but it is not overly harsh. Because of its smooth flavour, several coffee connoisseurs consider Colombian coffee to be among the greatest in the world. Sumatran coffee has a much lower acidity level. This makes it one of the greatest coffees for acid sensitivity.

Sumatran coffee has a distinctive flavour. It has earthy undertones that set it apart from the competition. You will detect hints of bell pepper, mushrooms, and even herbs when drinking Sumatran coffee. The way the coffee is processed and the land in which it is grown contribute to this flavour.

The Colombian coffee region, is named the Coffee Triangle. It is a part of the Colombian Paisa area in the regional area of Colombia. It is famous for producing the largest amount of Colombian coffee.
